In their weekly science catch up, ABC host Trevor Chappell, and Tanya Ha, Engagement Director of Science in Public, talk about what to do if you discover a fossil, and how the Found a Fossil website can help.

I was able to have a great conversation with Jackson Worthington from ABC Perth Early Mornings to talk all about the Found a Fossil project and how it THE place to go if you think you’ve found a fossil, or an Indigenous artefact.

Lightning Ridge is one of the only places in Australia to find dinosaurs! I worked with a team from the Australian Opal Centre and the University of New England to look for new dinosaur specimens.

Working with the Future Students team at Macquarie University, we travelled up the coast to chat with students from regional high schools about their pathways to university.

As part of my invovlement in Science & Technology Australia’s Superstars of STEM program, myself and the other Superstars were treated to a day of media training at SBS Sydney.

I was nominated by several of my professors to be the graduate speaker for Faculty of Science and Engineering graduation ceremony.

Partnering with Skype a Scientist, I was matched with the incredible Grade 11 class from Vo Thi Sau High School in Vietnam!

The Careers with STEM Showcase, brought to you by Google, will look back at 10 years for Careers with STEM magazines, show how careers in STEM are always evolving and what careers are set to boom.

Organised by the Faculty of Science and Engineering and the STEM Equity Alliance at Macquarie University, this Women in STEM Careers Evening allowed current university students studying STEM to hear from a panel of women on our experiences of how we have navigated our careers in largely male dominated fields.

The Science Experience is a fun 3 days of science activities for Year 9 and 10 students. I was invited to give a keynote speech for this event, and hold a stall for the careers expo!

Future Science Talks gathers scientists from around Sydney to do pub talks about their research and how it can impact the way we live!

Working with the Sydney Comedy School and Future Science Talks, myself and 5 other scientists jazzed up our science research talks to be palatable to a public audience, making them accessible, relevant, and hilarious!

“Now there’s a resource farmers can use to help identify any fossils or bones. It’s a pathway to new discoveries with possible historical significance and that can be very exciting.”

Discussing my Found a Fossil project at the International Council on Monuments and Sites was an excellent way to network with other heritage professionals, and show how we can protect heritage at a community level.
