Google x Careers with STEM Showcase

The Careers with STEM Showcase, brought to you by Google, will look back at 10 years for Careers with STEM magazines, show how careers in STEM are always evolving and what careers are set to boom. Students will hear from and meet Google staffers, learning about their pathways and successes.  Plus, they'll have the opportunity to explore Google's HQ and interact with STEM exhibitors including employers, programs and education providers.

Representing the Superstars of STEM program, run by Science and Technology Australia, myself, joined by Superstar Caitlyn Forster (Behavioural Ecologist), and Evelyn Fetterplace (organiser extraordinare of the Superstars) ran an expo table where students could come and be inspired by the many and varied careers of the 60 Superstars from the 2022/23 cohort. We discussed the adventures to be had in palaeontology (with some fossils for students to interact with - including dinosaur poo!), how to figure out what you enjoy, and the applications of Tech in each of our fields. With other presenters from ANSTO, Future You, Arludo, Macquarie Univeristy, and more, it was a great space for students to get a feel for the many jobs possible in STEM.
