SBS Media Training - Superstars of STEM

📍 SBS (Special Broadcasting Service) Sydney

📅 November 2023

Alongside a groups of epic female and non-bonary scientists from around Australia, we were given the opportunity to be trained by industy experts in the media and communications world. We were able to practice our interview skills for radio and TV, talk about how our research can change the world, and figure out what the Australian public cares about, and how we can connect with them.

One of our trainers was the incredible Robyn Williams, who hosts The Science Show for ABC Radio National. You can check out the interview here!

Science & Technology Australia’s Superstars of STEM program selects 60 female and non-binary scienctists from around the country to help smash gender assumptions about what a scientist looks like.

Over the course of the 2 year program (2023/24), we get trained by media experts to raise our own public profile and to increase the visibility of women in STEM and create role models for women and girls everywhere.
