Sydney Comedy Festival
Working with the Sydney Comedy Festival, I was able to work with a comedian, alongisde 10 other scientists from all over Sydney to add some humour into our research. From being sent pictures of a human finger bone, to discussions on Indiana Jones, this was a hilarious opportunity to connect with audiences in an engaging (and hopefully funny!) way!
From volunteering to dream museum job - The Lighthouse
A childhood fascination with dinosaurs led Sally Hurst to pursue a Master of Research in Palaeontology and Archaeology at Macquarie and ultimately to a job at the Australian Museum.
Women in STEM Symposium panel
This annual event encourages high school girls to consider a career in STEM and introduces girls to an amazing array of STEM opportunities.
Project Magnify at the Powerhouse Museum
Bringing STEM careers to low socio-economic schools who may have never been exposed to the epic careers in palaeontology or crime investigation.
Skype a Scientist
Skype a Scientist matches classrooms from around the world with scientists from every conceivable field to have all of their science questions answered! Through this program I’ve already connected with students from India, Canada, England, Singapore and more!
Dinosaur Festival at the Australian Museum
Why was T. rex so famous? How do we find out how a T. rex died? (through a T. rex autopsy of course!). What should you do if you discover a fossil? Every year the Australian Museum hosts the Dinosaur Festival - an extravaganza of life-size dinosaurs roaming the museum, science talks, and hands-on interactions with real fossils.
